Hi, I'm Margaret. Having worked for Equus Health South West with Wizzy
and Derek for the past 5 years, I am now going to follow in their footsteps
by taking on the business and valiantly try to fill their shoes!
I come from a horsey background, having grown up on the Mendips and
belonging to the Mendip Farmers Pony Club and Hunt. I did P.C eventing,
but my true loves were hunting and show jumping. I did qualify for the
Foxhunter Championships many moons ago and I am also a B.H.S.A.I.
I moved to Ireland for five years working with national and international show jumpers
for Tom Roche-Garland in Limerick and Eddie Macken in Co. Meath as
traveling head groom.
Marriage and children (2 sons now in the army), happened back here on Exmoor and Bodmin Moor, complete with hunting and childrens' ponies. Divorce came and horses went; I then found a new passion for training and working
English Springer Spaniels. I have six at present that I work during the
shooting season and compete - fairly succesfully in Field Trials and Working
Tests as well as doing demonstrations at the Royal Cornwall Show and other
shows in Cornwall.
Having worked with Equus Health for a good length of time, starting
in the bagging room then gradually 'moving up' to contacting retailers
and answering help line calls, I am now looking forward to the new challenges
ahead along with Tors (Victoria Keat) who has come along with me. We look
forward to talking and meeting all our customers in the future, so you
can be assured of good sound help and advice at all times.
A successful double Claire Sponsorship
Equus Health Devon and Cornwall has two well known local faces that
it supports on an ongoing basis. It is thanks to you and products we
promote, and in turn that you buy, that we are able to put something
back into the sports we love via sponsorship - at the same time promoting
our business in a way we feel comfortable with. Our Advertising Budget
with magazines is virtually zero as we prefer to use the funds to support
others to achieve their aims.
We have a good working relationship with both our sponsored riders,
so that they understand the products we promote and the service we provide -
Sponsorship is a two way thing - in which both sides should gain through
work put in by both the rider and the company. We believe that our approach
to it works for all, including you our customers.
Claire
Daniels, a well known and up and coming event rider is in her 4th year
of Sponsorship - having won a competition to be sponsored by us through
WMN. She was chosen from a total of 97 applicants and has far exceeded
our expectations of what a sponsored rider can do for us, hence the
long term relationship. Claire has been fundamental in product trialling
and testing and feedback alongside her advertising duties on her lorry
and her self (watch out for the distinctive green and orange X.country
colours!) Claire is an excellent teacher of rider and horse, so if ever
you are in need, she is a very approachable person that you can call
or talk to at events on everything equestrian including products for
problems. She is easy to spot as her smile will get her noticed anywhere!
This year she was short listed for sponsored rider of the year- a national
competition run by our Equestrian trade assoc; BETA. It was eventually
won by Tim Stockdale of 'Fools on horses' fame - Fair enough! But nevertheless
we are very proud of her achievements competitively and 'advertising
wise' for us.
Claire's husband, Andrew is a farrier who also is a very accomplished
horseman and in his spare time events/ SJ. He also very important member
of the Equus Health Herbal Junkies Open team chase team.
Together the dynamic duo fit the bill perfectly for Promoting Equus
Health.
'Tother
Claire' is Claire Rushworth, well respected and one of a very few BSJA
accredited trainers nationwide, whom we are very lucky to have in this
part of the country to teach budding competitors of all ages and levels.
Claire is in her 2nd year of sponsorship with us - if you know her
you know she can 'talk for England!' well now she can talk like that
about a good number of our products as well - to anyone who will listen!
Claire always has time for any one who needs a bit of support and advice
on all things equestrian. Competively, Claire has been there and done
it, being very successful at National level, her enthusiasm of which
is passed onto anyone aspiring to their own dreams - lessons with Claire
come well recommended! Her lorry like Claire Daniels' can be spotted
emblazoned with Equus Health travelling up and down the country on a
regular basis.

CLAIRE DANIELS
UP-DATE
The
2008 season started well in March at Aldon with a 3rd in opn with
Tolly.
In April Taz got the hang of x-country in fine style
by winning the openintro section at Ebbesbourne Wake by nearly
7 marks finishing on a score of 25.7. Ric made up for our disapointment
by missing out on 2nd place at Portman (by clocking up 9 time
penalties for going to fast, dropping us to 13th!), by getting
a 5th place in the prenovice plus.
We travelled all the way to Moreton Morell in Warwickshire
to contest my first novice with Ricky, only for the event to be
cancelled due to the weather. Luckily Taz had a great run in an
intro section running h.c before they pulled the plug!
May was a successful month for both the boys. At
Stockland Lovell Ricky and I won our 1st novice together, finishing
on his dressage score of 29.5. at the Riding Club National ode
qualifier, held at Winkleigh, Ric was in the winning open team,
which won by 40 penalties, coming 4th as an individual and Taz
was in the winning intermediate team coming 1st overall as an
individual, also, the novice team came 2nd, so we are very excited
that Holsworthy riding club will be represented at all three levels
at the championships this year. I personally would love to take
home the intermediate title for the second year running and regain
the open title that I won in 2002, with all our teams winning
championship honours!! Taz went on to a 3rd place at pontispool
in the prenovice.
June has started out well with Taz coming 3rd in
the discovery at the Cornish Show Jumping Club. Ricky shone again
at West Wilts by winning at novice level again by nearly 7 points,
with his dressage score of 27.6 and Taz picked up a 4th with his
dressage of 26.7 but with a rolled pole in the sj.
